Although Merrill & Merrill Insurance Inc's offices opened in 1947, our family has been involved in the business for over 100 years.
The late Allen Merrill once worked for the Indiana Insurance Rating Bureau and later became an agent in the field, traveling throughout the Terre Haute area. He was known for his insurance expertise.
Soon after World War II, the late A.T. (Tom) Merrill returned to the area and went into the business for himself. He was soon joined by Allen, and Merrill & Merrill was formed.
Tom himself was a lifelong resident of Terre Haute. He graduated from Terre Haute Wiley High School and attended the Polytechnic Institute of Technology and Indiana State Teachers College. He was very active in the community.

Developing the Family Business
In 1977, Bill Merrill joined the firm. A graduate of Wiley High School and with a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University, Bill continually renews his education in the insurance business.

In 1980, he was selected as one of the Outstanding Young Men in America.
Like other members of his family, Bill is fully involved in the local community through its organizations and boards.
